March 2008 - From Ollie-Roo's Mum and Dad:
Dear Sarah and Tharrow,
I would just like to personally thank you guys for the new addition to our family. I still can’t believe I have a cat, I am STILL in shock! Never thought I would be able to own one as loyal, affectionate and as sweet as Ollie due to Luke’s allergies, but I was wrong. I’ll never underestimate my husband and his dedication to making me smile.

Well, we promised you an update and here is a summerised version as there’s too much to tell. Ollie has come a long way since Thursday night, starting with the constant meowing. At first we believed he was meowing because he was getting used to his new surroundings, so we would go up to him and comfort him with pats and cute talking, but we were soon to discover that the meowing was a call for us to walk up to him so he could run away….either up the stairs or down the stairs to  play either chasey or hide and seek. I’m not sure if he understands that he has been caught out, but as I keep learning everyday with Devon’s, they don’t seem to be too phased with being caught, they are extremely persistent. I’m obviously not telling you anything you don’t already know, hey?

He has become quite confident with his new home, and explores every square inch, crevice and hole. He has had a number of visitors and seems to be a big hit especially with the other cat allergy sufferers, we have even had a few requests for cat sitting. Ollie loves to sprint up and down the stairs, play with his toy mice, eat, sleep (on our laps/bellies/on our bed) sit on the window sill, play fetch, roll around in his new woolen tube, and get up to mischief. In addition he has started to chatter and chirp to us when he is happy or in a playful mood, wag his tail and he contains an abundance of character that of a dog, monkey and cat combined….we absolutely love him….I do especially!

In conclusion we can’t thank you enough for choosing us to adopt one of your kittens, who have been raised to be excellent family members. Ollie was well looked after, trained and cared for and I am extremely grateful and lucky to be the one to get to know him better. I will keep in contact on his progress with emails, and photos and we thank you both again for your support.

Cheers,

Emily, Luke, Ollie-Roo

2008 - From Nutmeg's Mum:

We adore her !!  She is perfect ! She is so affectionate and is always in my arms, on my chest or following me round the house ! As I type she is here beside me wanting to play fetch.  She and Gizmo have called a truce (but Nutty is definitely in charge)  She sleeps on my bed all night and waves at the neighbours with her paw from the window which they love.  She has explored the courtyard with Gizmo as tour guide.  She has stopped moulting and has put on weight and looks stunning.  My neighbour has a mean ginger cat so she comes over here for cuddles from Nutty.  Nutty will chase her rolled up pipe cleaners for ages and always brings them back to you and waits for you to throw them again.  If Im busy and can't play, she will entertain herself with the kids toys or terrorise Gizmo.  She has taken over all the sunny window spots and has a huge cat scratchie pole to near the roof upstairs in my room near the PC so she can see up and down the driveway and watch all the neighbours.  She is great and fitted in wonderfully.  We all love her very much.  Thankyou so much for her !

2008 - From Faith's Mum:
Hi'ya Sarah
Well the delightful Faith is going GREAT  though being a typical Devon wrecker! LOL... Apparently if I wake up at night & she is under the covers that means play time....... If I move she bats at my legs, fingers etc. Some times she sleeps a little too close to me & I end up nearly falling out of the bed, as I am scared I'll lay on her so I move away....lol.. I think she's already become the boss...sigh!

She has met the other cats & Alfa the Raggy boy & Chantall the moggy girl & they actually LIKE her  But Zanna is having a 'few' issues just with hissing at her but she'll get used to her I just know it... LOL

2008 - From Speedway's Dad:
Hi Sarah and Tharrow,
I just wanted to say THANK YOU  SOOOO MUCH  again for my little man. Please know that I appreciate you giving me my little mate and he just means the world to me.  He comes to me just with me patting the bed or my lap.  He can be any where in the house and still comes.  He fetches toys and brings them to me to throw away and fetches them again.  Far better than any dog.
I am hoping to enter the first show on the 24th feb, and meet every one again.
Hope to see you again very soon.
Kind regards,
Robert

July 2007 - From Inca's Mum

Hi Sarah,

Just to let you know that our little 'Inca' (or Stinky Inky!) is just delightful and we all 3 love her to bits - never thought we could fall for a devon rex as we have!   She was calm all the way home in her carrier, enjoyed investigating and playing up until 9 pm when she finally decided it was time for a shut eye and a cuddle.  She did well considering it was such a big day for her.   And she had a good sleep in the bed with Thomas all night.  We love it that she is so responsive when we talk to her and we have managed to get a few meeouws and to hear her little heavy purr on occasions.  The maiden hair fern has never had so much attention as when she found it!

Regards,

Carol

February 2007 - From Gollum's Mum and Dad

Greetings Sarah.

Where do we begin? Firstly sorry for the delay in writing, but as

you can imagine, there have been many changes around here.

When we picked him up from the airport, he was more than at ease in the cage and showed no signs of stress at all. He fell asleep in the car on the way home! Once at home, it didn't take him long to take over and he settled straight in.

He is definitely the worlds biggest sleaze, in fact he is on my lap at the

moment! He plays for a little bit and then has to know were Amela or myself are and then it's back to play time - bouncing off the walls.

We will send you some more photo's soon.

Cheers for now,

   Steve and Amela.

January 2007 - From Sam's Mum:

Hi Sarah,

Sam is now well and truly a part of the family. He and my female Devon are already playing together quite well, with their favourite game being chasey where each gets a turn to chase the other. Hiding and jumping out at each other is also a favourite. Because she is bigger, she tends to be a bit rough but Sam takes it in his stride and always comes back for more. He has heaps of hiding places which are too small for her to fit, so he can easily take a break from her if he needs to.

Sam regularly uses her toilet, and has eaten some of her food AND they both ate out of his bowl last night without any fighting. Luckily, she's not too keen on his food!

Yesterday he worked out how to jump up on the table - quite a large jump for such a small cat. It was the only place where my female Devon could get away from him, so she wasn't too happy to see him there.  It's a short jump from the table to the kitchen benchtop, and of course both cats are banned from the benchtop, and of course both cats ignore that ban.

Sam now has free access to all parts of the house, and he slept on my bed last night. He is a real smoocher and each night sits on my lap and purrs until he goes to sleep. A couple of times I've carried him around tucked under my arm, and he seems to like it.

He has a wonderful temperament, and is EXACTLY what I was after!! Thank you so much for letting him become part of my family.

Regards, Sue

February 2007 - From Sam's Mum:

Hi Sarah

Sam is just great!  He and my other Devon are playing together really well now.  He gives as good as he receives, and always comes back for more biffo. When the colder weather comes along, I think the two of them will be more than happy to curl up together.  He can be quite rough with his play, and so far has broken two toys – he can’t resist killing the ones with feathers!

He is so helpful around the house – climbing the lace curtains to check that they go all the way to the top of the windows, moving the cushions from the couches to the floor, knocking over the grass pot (um, cat grass, that is!!), pulling the tablecloth off the table, choosing which clothes I should wear by pulling them off their hangers, and of course helping to make the bed.

He eats his “baby” food, but also likes to help my other cat by eating her food, too!  I’ve compromised by cutting up raw steak into little bits for him as an occasional treat.  Mind you, my other Devon is just as happy to eat HIS food!  He’s not too keen on dry food just yet, but I’m hoping he’ll learn to like it soon.

Sam sleeps on or in my bed for at least part of each night.  He often wakes me up around 2.30am by climbing over me and purring loudly, so after a couple of minutes of patting him, we can both go back to sleep.  If I’m watching TV, he likes to sleep on my lap or beside me on the couch.  We have a game of “chase the string” each night, and both cats always greet me when I get home from work.

Proud mum that I am, I’ve attached a few piccies of Sam which I took last Saturday.  As you will see, the fuzz over his bare patches is getting longer, which I guess is his coat coming through.

I think I’m VERY lucky to have Sammy, and I like to think he’s quite content with his new home too.

Regards,

Sue
